Larry Nassar, the former doctor for USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University, was sentenced for the final time in an Eaton County, Michigan courtroom on Monday.

For the last three weeks, Nassar has sat for two sentencing hearings related to his guilty pleas on 10 counts of sexual assault. During his previous sentencing hearing in neighboring Ingham County last month, more than 150 women and girls read victim impact statements, after which Judge Rosemarie Aquilina imposed a sentence of 40 to 175 years in prison for seven of the 10 guilty pleas.

Sentencing for the remaining three cases began on Wednesday, and more than 50 additional victims appeared in court to tell their stories. All told, well over 200 women allege that Nassar sexually assaulted them under the guise of providing medical treatment.

When taken together, the two Michigan sentences add up to a minimum of 80 years in prison, and a maximum of 300 years. He likely won’t have an opportunity to serve either of them though, because the 54-year-old Nassar is also currently serving a federal sentence of 60 years in child pornography charges. According to ESPN, he would not be eligible for parole until the year 2117.

Monday’s sentencing closes one chapter of Nassar’s saga, but there are still many unanswered questions about how he was able to prey upon young girls and women for so long before finally being caught. Dozens of officials at USA Gymnastics and Michigan State University have already resigned or been let go for their mishandling of Nassar’s case, and many more are facing calls to do the same. Several of the victims expressed disappointment and anger that officials of both institutions didn’t listen when they were alerted to Nassar’s predation.
